The monographic exhibition Witold Skulicz. Graphic Art Above All… presents the printmaking, painting and design work of Professor Witold Skulicz. The exhibition inaugurates International Print Triennial Kraków–Falun 2013 organized for the first time in Sweden as part of the International Print Network. The exposition consists of 40 works, commemorates Professor as a printmaker and designer, painter and the author of monumental realizations.

The core of the exhibition is a series of beautiful litographies and serigraphies from the 1980s, which synthetically presents the wholeness of the artist’s graphic output. It is the work open to experimenting and broadening the scope of artistic expression, revealing a huge potential of graphic arts enriched with new media. The serigraphies based on a modified and raster photo image enable to follow a restless and dynamic mind of a searching artist.

The paintings echo a political and social situation, there appears a nature’s beauty of a deeper meaning. The figural and abstract motifs intertwine. They show the depth of experience, sensitivity as well as temperament of the author who amongst the multitude of painting techniques searches for an individual means of expression. Dynamic compositions with a rich painting surface expand the form’s frames and at the same time constitute a condensed, strong message.

Poster designs from the 1960s encompassing the cultural subjects are presented so widely for the first time. These compositions include interesting typographic layouts with the use of original typography and painting imagery. Designs of mosaics and wall decorations show a creative freedom as well as a deep understanding of the method of creating complicated monumental compositions. The mosaics have entered the city’s architecture and become its signature and adornment.

The multimedia presentation showcases  Professor Witold Skulicz’s work at the Print Biennial and Triennial, brings back the figure of a great enthusiast and promoter of graphic arts, a friend of artists.

The exhibition is prepared by the International Print Triennial in Krakow.

The works come from the collection belonging to the Artist’s family and to the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, Krakow District (ZPAP).
